Complete renovation of an Edwardian house, with new extension and significant layout alterations to create open, light-filled spaces while retaining its period character.
Private Residence, Nr Henley
Working closely with the clients and design team, we undertook a complete renovation of this Edwardian house. The challenge was to enhance original features while introducing new spaces and improving thermal performance to deliver comfort and practicality without compromising heritage detail.
Scope of Works:
- Ground floor extension with Flemish bond brickwork to match the main house, creating a new laundry room, boot room and WC
- Structural alterations to open up ground floor living areas
- New mechanical and electrical installations, including underfloor heating throughout
- New windows
- Roof and chimney repairs
- Internal layout reconfiguration and installation of new bathrooms
- High-quality finishes, including plastering, tiling and decorative works
- New panelling, bespoke fitted joinery and kitchen installations
- External works and drainage
Finishing Details:
- Skirting boards, architraves and original doors carefully restored and reused
- Panelling reinstated to match the original fabric
- Fibrous plaster cornices — moulds taken from surviving sections, re-cast and reinstated on site
- Cast iron rainwater goods refurbished
- Handrails carefully repaired and refinished
The result is a home that combines the elegance of its Edwardian heritage with modern functionality — a testament to the value of craftsmanship, meticulous planning and genuine collaboration.
